What I discovered about the moon and its impact on our moods and energy!

This past month has been particularly stressful for me, and based on feedback from my clients, it seems I am not alone in this experience. The ice storm, powerless in more ways than one, and the aftermath the the storms rathe. Stress often leads to muscle tension, sometimes without our conscious awareness. The body produces cortisol, and this stress can reduce our energy levels. It might be beneficial for us to acknowledge and accept this decrease in energy. Embrace the waning and waxing of our energy and moods like the phases of the moon!
I have consistently been fascinated by the moon and astrology. The influence of the stars on our personalities is intriguing, and in recent years, I have observed how the phases of the moon can affect my emotional fluctuations.
Last week, I had the chance to participate in a new moon manifesting workshop. The information presented was captivating and provided insights that I believe will assist me in channeling my energy more effectively. It also emphasized the importance of giving myself the grace to retreat inward and find peace when needed.
These are my four major insights from the workshop and my strategy for applying them to achieve balance in my work and personal life.
The new moon, when the moon is scarcely visible in the sky, is an ideal time for planting seeds or establishing intentions. This lunar phase encourages us to slow down, turn inward, connect with our intuition, and make plans. For me I think of this time as essential to check in with myself and ask, what's working, what can I change and where can I grow! Slowing down, and taking time for mediation or journaling is an important part of the new moon time.
The first quarter, when the moon appears as a crescent, is an ideal time to set plans in motion and act on my intentions. It might also be an opportunity to overcome obstacles that have previously hindered my task completion.
The full moon marks a period of celebration and letting go of what has reached completion. It is a time filled with energy for me. I always find that a full moon brings a sense of restlessness or the feeling that I can achieve more. This is a moment for self-expression, connection, and creativity, whether by immersing myself in a project I've been working on or by exploring my creative side. Might as well make use of the sleepless nights!
During the last quarter, there's a noticeable decline in energy. I'm increasingly conscious of how sensitive I am to the energy of others. This period is about finishing tasks, introspection, and honing my activities. It's a time to clear my mind and prepare for the new moon once more. I'm not coming to a halt; rather, I'm decelerating. It's about taking the time to observe the world around me or, as the saying goes, pausing to smell the roses!
A full moon means big energy! Learn about your own connections to the moon! Considering the phases of the moon to enhance my creativity and reflection allows me to connect with life's natural rhythm. I often criticize myself when my energy wanes, but now I realize that by simply going with the flow, I can find peace in the processes of planning, aligning, deciding, creating, and releasing.
The stages of the moon cycle mimic the stages of a menstrual cycle and that process is all about preparing our body to create life.
Having created life, (I have a daughter and a son) I can understand this incredible process. Now I no longer have a menstrual cycle, but I have the wisdom of 40 years of them. Now in my fifth decade I can draw from that wisdom and tap into the cycle of the moon, and in turn embrace the ebb and flow of life.
Over the past week, I've applied some of these ideas in conjunction with the arrival of the new moon, and I genuinely feel a sense of calm and tranquility in my daily routine. There might be some wisdom we can all adopt regarding the moon and the Earth. What lessons are you willing to learn?
